The Northumberland Chess Association (NCA) individual over-the-board championships are open to players who are registered with the NCA and are Bronze or above members of the English Chess Federation (ECF).
There are three sections, each consisting of a seven-round tournament with successive rounds typically starting four weeks apart.
- Zollner – no rating limit.
- Sell – ECF rating under 2000.
- Gilroy – ECF rating under 1700.
Ratings are as in the 1 September 2023 publication of the ECF rating list. Unrated players who wish to enter a rating-limited section should provide evidence of playing strength when entering.

Entries must arrive before 5 PM on Sunday 24th September 2023.
The draw for round 1 will be published on Sunday 24th September 2023. Entrants will be sent contact details for their opponent to allow them to arrange their game on a mutually acceptable date.
